Intermediate Red Update from Coach Emilia

June 23rd, 2015 | Posted by kigooswm in Coaches Corner

The intermediate red group is having a terrific season so far! At the ice breaker the swimmers completed an impressive 110 best times out of 122 races and collectively took nearly 4 minutes off their IM times. The results at the Super 7 meet were not far behind, as the group had another phenomenal meet swimming to plenty of best times. Congratulations to Rachel, Elizabeth K and Iain who broke the 3-minute barrier in 200 IM! Some impressive results were also posted by the div. 3 swimmers who tackled the 200 IM and all swimmers who braved the 100 fly. As a group we are continuing to work on underwater dolphin kick, with the goal in mind of performing five kicks off each wall during a race. In the last couple of weeks the swimmers have been transitioning away from predominately kick and drill practices, and have been working on more full stroke swimming combining sprinting with good technique. Now that school is out, I encourage the swimmers to aim to attend at least five practices each week….. I hope to see the morning practices get more popular! As always I encourage the swimmers to attend as many practices and meets as they can. By the end of the week I will hand out a goal sheet to the swimmers, which they can complete over the weekend and return back to me. Have a great weekend off!
