I can’t believe we are halfway through the season already! Despite the challenges we have faced this season, I have seen some great results in the pool and I am extremely proud of how the club has come together to tackle the challenges. As a team, we had some great results at the Hootenanny this past weekend. Congratulations to Fern (div 1), Julien (div 1), Zack (div 2), Josh (div 2), Madeleine (div 2), Ashley (div 3), Rachel (div 5), Eddie (div 5), Paul (div 5), Vincent (div 5) and Magnus (div 8) who placed in the top three in the finals in a very competitive field. With 840 swimmers at the meet, this was the biggest meet aside from provincials. Congratulations to all swimmers who qualified for finals and to everyone who achieved best times! With regionals quickly approaching, I encourage everyone to attend as many practices as possible. Hell week begins next week and each group will have a prize for all swimmers who attend 100% of practices. The coaches have been busy brainstorming themes and making plans for next week, so you don’t want to miss out on this week of hard work and fun!
Here are some reminders for swim meets:
- Always check the validation list ASAP and promptly email your child’s coach and I if any changes are needed. Changes will not be permitted at the swim meet, so please double check the entries with the validation list!
- Warm-ups are mandatory for all groups. JD warm-ups will be optional but they must be at the pool for the start of the meet (to avoid missing their races!) This rule is in place because scratches are due before warm-ups are completed. If you are running late please email me, otherwise we will assume your child is not coming and they will be scratched from the meet.
- Please continue to let me know ASAP if your child cannot participate in relays. Once the relay cards are handed in at the beginning of the day, changes cannot be made. Please check in before leaving the pool to see if you are on a relay!
If you have lost something this season please check in with me. My traveling lost and found is growing and now contains various Kigoos clothing, caps, goggles, a large black jacket and many plates from the pizza night.
I am excited to see what the rest of the season has in store! Keep working hard!
