JD White Update from Coach Sam

Hello JD Whites and Parents,
For the past two weeks we have been tirelessly working on improving our freestyle, backstroke and breastroke technique in preparation for the final JD meet this pastWednesday. I was very excited to showcase our talent and abilities at the meet; and I was thoroughly impressed. All swimmers at the CBSC JD meet got best times in 50 freestyle! Great Job.
I would also like to congratulate the two JD Whites who participated in the Grouse Grind this past Tuesday – Devon and Tai. Both of whom beat me up the mountain. Well done boys.
This coming week we will have the JD Olympics as the theme of our Fun Week. These practices will be very fun; so I encourage all swimmers to attend. On Friday we will have the JD Triathlon, which is always very fun.
Thank you,
Coach Sam

Hello JD Whites,
First and foremost, I’d like to thank Coach Peter for entrusting me to fill his position in his departure. For the parents and swimmers who I have not yet met, my name is Sam; and I have been a Kigoo swimmer for the past 9 years. I have enjoyed my time with the Richmond Kigoos, and I am very excited to be coaching the JD White group.

This Wednesday we had the Kigoos JD Meet in which all of us performed very well. Everyone who swam got at least 1 best time – which is fantastic! Each swimmer performed exceptionally well in the 50 meter backstroke in which everyone got a best time.

In preparation for the Crescent Beach JD Meet, we will continue to fine tune our freestyle, backstroke, and breastroke technique. Also, we will work on dives (on or off the blocks) and backstroke starts. Finally, I would like to introduce all the swimmers to butterfly by the end of the season.
I would like all the swimmers to remember the rules of our group during practice:

1. When the coach is talking you are not talking

2. When the coach is talking you have your two hands on the wall and head up out of the water.
3. Have fun!
Parents, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me: sam@kigoos.com
Thank you,
JD White Coach Sam

Hello JD White swimmers and parents,
It was great to see so many of you at the Icebreaker Meet. Good job to all the swimmers who did their very first races last weekend. From watching you finishing the race, I am impressed by your  courage and dedication. I still remembered how nervous I were when I swam my first race ever. I am sure that you will enjoy the races more and more as you come to more meets.
You all improved a lot on your technique. I saw lots of you having  big arm circles and flat head position in the races. It was great! In the following weeks, we will learn how to distribute our energy evenly in a race and how to follow the rules to not be disqualified.
Thank you to all the parents who accompanied the swimmers to the meet and helped to make the meet successfully take place! I hope to see you all at the first JD meet in North Delta! Also, please do not forget that the coming Thursday is club photo day!

Hi JD White swimmers and parents,
It is hard to believe that we have been one-third way through this summer swimming season. It was really nice to see so many of you at the mock meet. I found  potentials in all of my swimmers from watching them racing. The swimmers who attended practices regularly showed their outstanding improvement.Great job!In the past weeks, we have been working on the basic strokes for front crawl and back crawl. Most swimmers put lots efforts into practicing the “simple” strokes . The hard work will pay back! In the following week, we are going to keep working on whip kick and practice some racing techniques such as race finishes.
Let’s all keep up our good work and get ready for the coming icebreaker meet and JD meets. It will be fun!

Junior White Update from Alexis and Liam

Hey Jr. Whites!

This week has been about practicing a lot of our underwater push offs. We’ve been working on our dolphin kick on our front and backs, in our perfect streamlines. We’ve all been working super hard in every practice and it’s great to see so many swimmers in the mornings!
Not only have our push offs improved, our strokes have too! Lots of new drills have been introduced to help us with our technique in every stroke.
Another important reminder, bring runners and a water bottle to every practice. We need our runners for activation, especially when we start going into the back field. During these sunny days we need to stay hydrated so we can swim as fast as we can.
This Saturday is the mock meet so come prepared to swim fast and learn a lot of new cheers! If you have any questions or concerns, email both liam@kigoos.com and alexis@kigoos.com.
See you on the pool deck!
